Looking back at your preliminary task what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product? As you can see to the left, since my preliminary task, there has been a massive development in my media and photoshop skills. This is very clear in all aspects of my work. There is much more interest and things that grab attention right away in my main task apposed to my preliminary college magazine which is so basic, its just down too an image with text on it. During the process of this project i have gotten much more skillful with photoshop and have learnt some really usefull skills such as text wrapping around an image, or poloroid images. All of these things are the ingredients to an interesting front cover and its quite embarrasing how my old cover has the bare minumum of these, its way too basic. The brick used in the background is really clashing to the text in the foreground, apposed to the white on my new cover flowing nicely and making the text infront of it so much clearer to read and understand.

Comparing my contents pages with eachother is even more embarrasing because my preliminary one was absolutely aweful seeing as i didnt really know how to use photoshop properly. Its quite simply just some text piled ontop of eachother in an order with page numbers. Its definately not suitable for a real magazine. Where as my new contents page is really interesting and has loads going on, the images draw focus to the more important items on the page, and even tools such as the Gradient that i had learnt really emphasided sections and made them stand out really well. To do this effect on the titles i had to use the magic wand tool (selection tool) to select the area that i wanted to add a gradient too and then applyed this into the selected area, this all made a really appealing peice of work and made it look much more professional. There are many tools that i had learnt to do in the process of this project.

One of the most usefull tools for me was the lasso tool which is the circular shaped one. It enabled me to select a freehand area of my choice and do what ever i wanted with it. Another really useful tool i had learnt was the crop tool which enabled me to make my background images much more interesting and focused on certain points instead of them including parts which i didnt want.
Overall i think i have had a great skill development throughout my preliminary task and my main task because i have learnt alot more photoshop skills, aswell as learning to use flickr. Now i have learnt alot more on photoshop its amazing how easy i find to do certain tasks now and something that would of taken me 30 minutes before can only take me 5 now.
