What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?I used adobe photoshop when making and designing my magazine as you can see from the picture to the left but like everything, it has it flaws. Although it is very good for doing many different tasks and effects. Its quite complex and can take a while to get used too if you havent used it before. Luckily when i was making my magazine i had already had previous experience with the programme so i had a rough idea on what all of the tools did.
As expected, i learnt the use of many new tools along the way such as the select simlar tool which was very useful when deleteing backgrounds off images and fonts. There is total freedom in photoshop and once you know what you are doing the possibilities are endless, and your creatations and ideas can come to life with the click of a button. Untill you know wha
t you are doing and know all of these tools though your design is limited to your knowlage and you would have to look online for tutorials and help.Something else i used which my project has bennifited from greatly is flickr, which is an online photo hosting site which is very usefull because you can add annotations and notes which help do to a digital analysis. The website runs with a personal login of your Yahoo account which was easy to set up, all you had to do was follow a few simple steps. The downside of having a web based host was the fact that if you didnt have a very fast internet connection you would have to wait ages untill they are uploaded. Another problem that i had incountered at college was when trying to add notes to my pictures, i found that flickr was crashing on internet explorer so i had to use firefox which was tedious.
Obveously the site that i have used to create my portfolio on is Blogspot which in many ways is great but also has some major flaws. On the upside, its very easy to use and there is hardly anything to learn before you actually start blogging stuff, but during the process of blogging i found that you couldnt move pictures and videos around very easily and it was generally quite stiff. You cant expect perfection when making an online blog from another site, if you seek perfection then you should create your own website from scratch which is why this issue hasnt bugged me too much. Over all though i think that blogger is a very easy to use and friendly website which has made it very easy and simple to do what i need to do.
